Show Tuesday, November 24, 1987 7A Emery County Progress Now is time to apply for academy PROVO Third District Congressman Howard Nielson is encouraging area high school seniors to submit applications for attendance at any of the five service academies nationwide. Deadline for the application is Dec. 31, 1987. Applications are available for the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo; the United States Naval Academy in Kings Points, New York; and the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. must Applicants be nominated by a member of Congress to be considered for admittance to all but the Coast Guard Academy. In order to be nominated to any of the academies, young men and women must be at least 17 years old but not more than 22 years old by July 1, 1988. Candidates should have a strong grade-poiaverage, good national test scores in the math and scieri e areas, and an extracurricular involvement that indicates leadership skills.
