Often patients undergo a period where they fight host versus graft disease, but to date Ronny has not shown typical symptoms. He was in good shape when he went into the hospital and that fact helped, plus a strong will to recover so he can take care of his family and be back working at the Wilberg mine in a year. His body appears to be producing new healthy red blood cells and platelets. Previously his white cell count was indicative of a fatal leukemia. They left the first of October. Insurance is paying for the $150,000 operation, but medical and living expenses continue to be a problem to the family. Rent alone is $500 a month. The Progress carried a single plea for the Dollars to Ronny fund and received $412. A cashiers check was mailed to them in time for Thanksgiving. Anyone wishing to help the Withers family may mail to Dollars for Ronny at the Emery County Progress, Box 589, Castle Dale, Utah, 84513, or if in town drop a few dollars in the contribution at the reception desk, or make out the check to Ronny or Terry Withers and mail to Maple Manor, Apartment 102, 1404 Boyleston Ave., Seattle, Wash. 98122. The appeal touched the hearts of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne P. Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla., Ray and Audry Whiting of Ogden and Yuma, Ariz., and Devon and Lorrain Saintz of Johnstown, Penn.
