Kalatzes, 21, of Salt Lake City, entered into a plea bargain Oct. 20 with Emery County and the state of Utah. Kalatzes plead guilty to a reduced charge of possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor and in exchange for the lesser charge, he signed title to his 1984 Toyota pickup over to Emery County. The pickup was seized in the raid when Kalatzes was arrested August 14 on the Price River. Sheriffs deputies discovered Kalatzes and another man at a site near Woodside, apparently caring for a plot of marijuana plants. The other man, allegedly Cary David Snyder, escaped the deputies at the time and extradition procedings are in effect to bring him from arraignment. Deputies Utah for recovered 84 marijuana plants at the site, some six feet tall. They had been cultivated in several different locations, planted among native plants. Officers also seized several thousand dollars worth of pumps, hoses, fertilizer and other equipment in the raid.
