This figure included a reduction in the number of kindergarten students which fell, in part, because of a state law setting the cutoff date for five year olds at Sept. 1 rather than Oct. 1 as traditionally observed in the Emery District. While Emery is experiencing a decline in enrollment, many districts have seen dramatic increases. Of the 40 districts in Utah, 31 reported increases at the first of the school year. The greatest growth came in Millard County, site of IPP con struction, which experienced a 13.33 percent increase. Thomas, Gary Gilbert, Kristie Oveson, Todd Enrollment figures show that Granite School Distict is the largest in the state with nearly 66,000 students while Jordan with 55,000, Davis with 43,000, Alpine with 31,000, and Salt Lake with 24,000 follow.
