The responses are in for Utah Power & Light Co.s irrigation pumping rate options, hnd the results show nearly half of the companys irrigation customers will remain with the present billing schedule. The rest of those customers have opted for other schedules that give reduced rates for allowing short power shut-off- s during weekdays or for pumping during late night or early morning hours. Last September, the company sent out about 2,300 notices to iis irrigation customers explaining four rate options approved by the Public Service Commission. Included with those notices were rate option forms, and of those forms were 1,275 returned. The first option was to keep the same billing schedule. customers chose r this one on their forms, and those who did not respond were included in this schedule by Seventy-fou- default. The second option allows the pumper to chose one weekday per week when the company can shut off power for up to Open 12 noon to 5 Right off Matn 5treet in Ferron Tuesday-Saturda- ' y p.m. behind Jeanie's customers. The third option gives the company the choice of day and time of shutdown, but power cant be cut off more than three weekdays per week and cant exceed 12 hours during the week. A clear majority of respondents, 719, chose this one. The fourth option offers reduced rates for pumping at night. This is a time, when demand for power is lower. The tally showed 198 pumpers wanted this schedule. ed V v Ml vNv off-pe- ak Price differences among these rate options reflect the costs of providing service. By reducing demand at peak times, the company can put off the need for expensive new construction. Those who cut back at peak times (roughly between 8 a.m. and midnight on weekdays) or pump at other hours are therefore trimming costs. t KS changing ((Turkey Day Sauce FORGET (VIE NOT GIFTS AND CRAFTS by 184 Happy Cranberry fjudt U time fan dkxi&HOl! hours.
