Show i Emery County Progress Wednesday, November 23, Buffalo Bridge to be replaced Social notes by Angie Fillmore Although the mud and water seem to have disappeared, the spring of 83 floods are still with us as county road crews began removal and replacement of the Buffalo Bridge, south of Lawrence, last week. The bridge, crossing Huntington River, permits access to the Buffalo Bench and farms to the east. County Road Department personnel were extremely concerned with its fate while waters were high, and temporary measures were used to hold the bridge at that time. According to Ron Barney of CASTLE DALE Milton Carr was in Greenville, South Carolina on business recently and took occasion to visit with daughter, Joy, who is a freshman at Bob Jones University there. Joy is the oldest child of the Carrs and is in music education at the school. Reverend Carr reports she is enjoying her time there. Cory attended a Summer Science Seminar there two years ago and determined then to do his undergraduate work there. the Emery County Road Department, the bridge, which will be out no longer than 30 days, will be replaced with a n limit wider, safer, structure. This will accommodate use by heavier industrial and farm equipment, as well as the school bus, eliminating the brisk, daily Vickie Biggar of Two Rivers, Wis. visited with her parents, Dick and Annalee Jones, recently. The Biggars were transferred to Wisconsin by MorrisonKnudson Construction Company. This is the farthest from home that Vicky has ever been, and she reports a bit of homesickness. However, they have found new friends and are enjoying their stay. They are living on the coast of Lake Michigan and they say the scenery is beautiful. 40-to- Arvon and Janice Scow of Tempe, Ariz. and Preston and Loy Thompson of Fillmore were recent visitors. They were here to attend funeral services for their brother, Owen Justesen, and to spend some time with brothers, Bill and Russell and sister, Iris Luke. walk now enjoyed by mile-lon-g the Pierce and Fillmore children, whose families live on the Bench. As soon as designs are completed, work will begin on the bridge east of Lawrence, also heavily flood damaged, which connects the Cleveland, Cedar Mountain, and Buffalo. Emil and Iris Luke had all their children home at the same time this month. Carmen Tratto, Maud Rudd, Joe, Sally Jorgensen, Samaline Siteman, and Camile Anderson all enjoyed visiting with their parents and other relatives. This work, as well as replacement of bridges located in Huntington Canyon, near the Huntington Ball Complex, and the Hunter Power plant, will not be done by county forces but will be contracted and should be complete before the spring thaw.
