The apprentice teacher would start up the career ladder by first teaching two years and possibly a third with the assistance of two professionals, usually the principal and a teacher leader and must demonstrate effective teaching skills, classroom and' time management, and have ability to challenge students to higher levels of thinking skills among other attributes. Emery County teacher Lois Patterson suggested that the migration be stopped. The proposed primary curriculum would devote 40 percent of class time to communication (reading, writing, speaking and listening), 18 percent to math, 6 percent to science, 10 percent to social studies, 10 percent to art and music, 12 percent to fitness and health and 4 percent to computer literacy. In the secondary grades communication would receive 24 percent, math 16 percent, science, social studies and foreign language, 10 percent apiece, art and music 15 percent and health 12 percent, and 4 percent for computer literacy.
