(Continued on page five) WEST JORDAN Claudia Butterfield AM 5-4014 Marlene Webb AM 5-4345 West Jordan Third Ward is presenting pre-senting a Hawaiian luau at the West Jordan Stake House this Saturday night, June 9, at 7 p.m. Eddie Ka-kaula, Ka-kaula, who sailed from the United States to the South Sea Islands on the raft Lehi 4, will be host. A program of Hawaiian dancing and singing will also be presented. There will be charge of $2.50 per person and $1.50 for young people peo-ple under 16. Everyone is welcome to attend and may come in Hawaiian Haw-aiian costume if they desire. West Jordan City Park will be the scene of a chuck wagon breakfast break-fast this Saturday morning, Junu 9, at 6:30 a.m. for West Jordan Stake Beehive girls and Boy Scouts. All the requirements are that they bring their own plate, knife and Fork and all the eggs they want to eat and officers in charge will furnish fur-nish pancakes and trimmings, orange juice and meat. All are to come prepared to have a real good time. Songs , and games are planned for the recreation session. Richard Dotson and David Erick-son Erick-son are home from Dixie College at St. Ceorge. Richard will leave next Sunday for Camp Comuelo, Calif., with the National Cuard. Mr. and Mrs. Emory Logan had as their guests Thursday, Friday and Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Brill and children, Cindy and Shaun, from Montrose, Colo. While here they enjoyed shopping in Salt Lake City and sightseeing around the area, visited Hogle Zoo and went swimming in the Great Salt Lake. The visitors left for home Sunday morning. Smith. Taking advantage of opening day of fishing season were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Webb and sons, LeRoy and Ralph, Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Mabey and sons, LaMar and Dwayne, and Wilford Webb. They spent the day in Huntington Canyon after which they motored to Springville and visited with Wil ford's daughter and j husband, Joyce and Johnnie Elder. Wilford stayed over returning home Tuesday morning. Mrs. Ruth Ceisler and children, Eugene and Ma reel la, visited with her mother and father, Mr. and Mr Wilford L. Webb. Friday evening. Saturday evening Marlene and Darlene Webb accompanied a group of girls from Walgreens to Lagoon. Besides the twins there were Mary Bert, and Mr. Williamson's mother, moth-er, Mrs. Clace Downard, and other relatives. Nancy Jo remained to spend the summer working for aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mr. Albert Baese, at the Lazy K Motel. West Jordan Third Ward Relief Society is honoring their retiring president, Mrs. La Von Steadman, and her counselors, Mrs. Norma Bateman and Mrs. Albine Richardson, Richard-son, and secretary, Mrs. Elsa Jor-gensen Jor-gensen at their work day next Tues day, June 12, at 10 a.m. Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie Schmidt will give some sewing instruction followed by work day activity. A delicious luncheon will be served. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Williamson visited with Mrs. Merl Watson and family of Lark last Saturday. The time has come around again for a gathering of the Jordan High School Class of '42. It is planned for Friday, June 15 at the old alma mater. Plenty of food is to be served ser-ved by a caterer. The frolic begins at 7 p.m. and there will be a charge of $3.00 per person. Any one of the class of '42 who has not been with Mr. and Mri. Letter Buckley of Kearns, Mr. and Mra. Cly Rowley Row-ley and Mr. and Mn. William Warr of Granger and their families. Mr. and Mrt. Max Spratling and family have moved to Deeth, Nov., where they have bought ome range and farmland. Six sessions of kindergarten began be-gan June 4 at West Jordan Elementary Elemen-tary School. Three classes each morning and afternoon are held with three teachers. Teacher are Mrt. Ford, Mrs. Solum and Mrs. Carter. A wedding shower complimenting compliment-ing Miss Janet Finlayson was held Tunday evening, June 5, at home of Mrs. Violet Finlayson. Mr. and Mrs. Theron Bowles of Taylorsville were seriously injured i in an automobile accident last Saturday Sat-urday in Loa. They were enroute fishing. Their small son was not badly hurt. Mr. and Mrs. Bowles have been in a Richfield hospital the past week but will be transferred transfer-red to a Salt Lake hospital as soon as their injuries will permit. Mrs. Bowles suffered a fractured nock and Mr. Bowles a fractured back and leg. Mrs. Bowles will be le-membered le-membered as the former LaDean Lloyd of West Jordan. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Williams and family spent the opening week end of the fishing season in the Uintahs Logan this week. They left Monday morning and will return Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Dimond of West Jordan and Mrs. Zella Whitehead White-head of Midvale returned last Saturday Sat-urday from a ten-day trip to the coast where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Carl Christensen at Oakley, Calif. They also enjoyed an overnight over-night stay at Lake Tahoe. Wett Jordan Second Ward Relief Re-lief Society it holding an early morning breakfast next Thursday, June I 4, at 9 a.m. to start off their work day, it is reported. David Erickson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Erickson, was among the graduates graduating from Dixie College at St. George last Friday, June I. Mr. and Mrs. Erickson traveled tra-veled to the southern Utah city to attend exercises which were held in the St. George Tabernacle. Their ton, David, and Richard Dotson re turned home with them. West Jordan Third Ward choir is holding a special practice Friday (tonight) at 7 p.m. at the stake house and ell members are urged to be present. They will also hold their regular practice Sunday at 5:45 p.m. The "Kitchen Mates" 4-H club was organized Thursday, May 31, at the home of Mrs. Doris Coster. Mrs. Emily Drake, supervisor for 4-11 clubs, helped with the organizing organiz-ing and explained the program to the einht girls who constitute this club. They will have cooking as their project. Leaders elected were: president, Connie Butterfield; vice president, Renae Jones, and secretary, secre-tary, Barbara Coster. Other members mem-bers are Deanna Smith, Linda Webb, Carla Riddle, Joyce Paulsen and Patricia Christensen. Meetings will be held every Tuesday afternoon after-noon at 2 p.m. at the Ccster heme. This week the Nimble Thimbles 4-H club group had their third meeting. All members were present. pres-ent. We started on our first project, TV slippers this week. Mrs. Barbara Crum met with a freak accident last week. A soda pop bottle exploded and flying glass hit her in the eye and caused a cut requiring thirteen stitches. The exact eye damage is unknown yet. Harold Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Webb, returned home Saturday from Clearfield where he visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. WEST JORDAN (Continued from page two) Twelve members of West Jordan Lady Lions and five guests visited American Fork Training School at American Fork recently. They took the children tome clothing and made a tour through the clinic. Lunch was later enjoyed at Alpine Country Club.
