The mine is located 10 miles up Huntington Canyon, in Emery County. Mining began on the trust land sections within the mine in 1991. Since that time, more than 1 2,000,000 tons of trust coal have been extracted, generating more than in $13,000,000 revenues. That $13,000,000 is of all trust land nearly coal revenues generated during the past 20 years confirming the historic importance of the Crandall Canyon mine to the & The Crandall Canyon trust coal reserves will be mined out near the end of 2003 bringing another $2,000,000 in revenue to the school permanent fund. The public ia invited. pre-regist- Washington County Kayenta Development Eighty acres of school trust lands are becoming part of the prestigious Kayenta residential development in Ivina. In October 2000, the Trust Lands Administration entered into a develop- lease ment with Kayenta Homesitea to put homes on the parcel. The developer planned and developed the land, then began selling lots in September 2001. The development lease requires the developer to make all improvements and to pay 33 percent of the gross sales price of each lot to Trust Lands. So far, 14 lots (out of 39 in Phase I) have been sold and the revenue generated for the Trust totala almost $400,000. Rachel Lois McDonald died April 17 Rachel Lois McDonald, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died at age 68 on April 17, 2002 at her home in Moab. She was born March 7, 1934 in Gresham, Wia. to Eldor W. and Sarah H. Heinz Schmidt. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in Home Economics and received the Student of the Year Award as a senior. She was sealed to E. John McDonald in the Manti Temple on Dec. 19, 1959. Rachel taught home economics for two years at Granger High School, and for two years at Provo High School. She taught the next 24 years at both the Grand County Middle and High Schools. She taught all four of her children, including her son, who was in the first boys home economics class. She loved teaching how to cook and sew, and believed in the principle that "to teach is to touch someones life, forever." Rachel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saint. She served in various positions and loved to serve the people. She is survived by her husband, John McDonald, her children, Kimberly (Chris) Knowles, Moab, Chad (Rauni) McDonald, Eagle, Id., Jill (Scott) Memmott, Chico, Calif., and Mario (Aaron) Salomonson, Eagle, Id.; and 14 Rachel Lola McDonald grandchildren. Amber, Lindsey, Sarah, Sydney, Brendan, Nicole, Derek, Emily, Heather, Samantha, Mandy, Jamie, Kyle and Jesse. She ia also survived by two brothers and two sisters, Howard (Rea) Schmidt, Oaxaco, Mexico; Nathalie (Robert) Williamson, Nadine Provo.; (Eddie) Rosenberg, Shawano, Wia.; and Merritt (Janice) Schmidt, Gresham, Wia. Services were held April 23, 2002, at the LDS Stake Center and interment was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, with arrangements by Spanish Valley Mortuary. A1 whole feature.
