There's the skate park, the playground, and the swimming pool. It would lie too difficult to partition off part of the park and not ex vet alcohol to dnft into areas where children play," said Sweeten. From a law enforcement point of view, fd hate to see a concert, for example, where large amounts of tieer being consumed with a large numlier of people present. Any time youre dealing with alcohol, some jxxiple will over consume. The first thing alcohol does is cause a loss of judgment and then there are law enforcement problems, explained Navarre. Sweeten suggested that perhaj the city could allow alcohol in Old City Park where it isnt so near residences and there are fewer childrens activities. i When people ren Old City Park, they pretty much take over tlie whole park. That is not true with Swanny City Park, so you'll always have children on the playground, skate park, or pcxil even if you have beer being consumed in a rojied off an a, said Sweeten. Sweeten pointed out that there are many places in Moab to purchase and consume alcohol and that we dont need it in our parks Kyle Bailey agreed. Gregg Stueki felt it would be a bad move to loosen up the ordinances against alcohol in places where families go to recreate. The topic was aliandoned for the evening with the suggestion that council momliers spend some time re- searching how other communities that sponsor sjxcial events handle the topic of alcohol in their parks. . . Sheriffs deputies found the missing partys vehic le parked at the Leprechaun Canyon trailhead along Utah Highway 95 south of Hankxville and asked Shemlli assistance in conducting the search. At 1 p m., Shemll and two Wayne County SAR volunteers headed into the search area.
