Half of BLM bonus bid money comes to Utah The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) received a total of $468,811 in bonus bids for Federal and gas lease rights on 38 parcels involving over 57, 559 acres of land in Utah during an oral auction held on February 26, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition to the bonus bids, the sale netted $86,361 in first year rentals and $2,850 in administrative fees, for a grand total of $558,022 in revenues from this lease sale. The State of Utah will receive 50 percent of all monies collected on the leases from this sale, in addition to any rentals paid per acre annually for the life of the leases up to 10 years) or any royalties paid to the U.S. Government if a lease produces oil or gas. A total of 53 parcels was offered, totaling 76,735 acres of land under the jurisdiction of the BLM and U.S. Forest Service. Six of the parcels are located in the Ashley oil ( Gas, South Jordan, Utah, submitted the highest total bid in the amount of $70,042 for a 2,294-acr- e parcel, located approximately 10 miles northwest of Helper, in Carbon County.
