Kimball OGDEN, June and Lieutenant Colonel James A. Howell were nominated at the Republican Judicial convention today for judges of the Second district. The selection of the two attorneys was made after a spirited contest between John G. Willis, John C. Davis and the men finally chosen. ' The feature of the nominations was the strong Indorsement accorded to Colonel Howell. Joseph E. Evans was nominated as district attorney over Royal J. Douglas. The vote stood Evans 114, and Doulas 89. The vote for the Judgeship was as follows: Kirhball. l'ilfo; Howell, 13S; Wil lis, Davis, 62. Another feature of the convention was f absence-othe any mention of the question of nonpartisanship, as was suggested convention of last J: the Democratic upon the subaturday. Evans for, district attorney and W. R. Skeen nominated Royal J. Douglas. Seconding speeches were made by Dr. Edward I. Rich, C. M. Croft, E. A. Larkin and George a. Barker in behalf of Evana and by W. H. Reeder, William Doxey ahd J D. Hooper in behalf of Douglas.. The vote gave Evans 114 and Douglas 89.
