Moab City is currently replacing the main water line down the street, that work being done concurrently with traffic signal modernization. In other action, Irrigation District board member Karla VanderZanden said she has received complaints about the inefficiency of irrigation water meters. Pierson said the problem is inherent, and not unique to Spanish Valley, because much of the water that travels through irrigation lines is trash. The smallest connection is a connection, Pierson said. Irrigation quality water has a lot of trash in it. The meters are also 15 years old. The Division of Water Resources is still looking for accurate irrigation meters, Pierson said. VanderZanden suggested the district look to other arid communities that have developed with secondary water systems, as the Grand district is planning to do eventually. A presentation on water agency consolidation is now scheduled for Febraury 10, 7 p.m. during the next water agency board meeting.
