Show Page A3 --- djc imcg-3nhepnifr- ntt Thursday, April 29, 2004 Moab Valley Healthcare reports on progress towards new facility New hospital plans are raising and other activity is at $750,000 with an additional $350,000 pending Board of directors announced its intention to include the hospital, long-tercare and professional clinics under one roof Other options include a retail pharmacy and physical moving forward. Earlier this year the board of directors of Moab Valley Healthcare, Inc. shared the footprint for the new facility, now named Moab m Regional Medical Center. Since that time various meetings with providers, staff and community members resulted in a streamlining of the footprint to meet the needs of various medical care providers. The new footprint is in place and an artists rendering ofthe buildings exterior design has been submitted to the board. Meetings continue to define the interior details of the integrated health care facility. Since the launching of the fundraising campaign in June of 2003, the following events have taken place: Selected and engaged, JGA Architects, Engineers, Planners; Gene Vogl, Design Team Leader Footprint completed therapyrehabilitation clinic Meetings continue with the MAPS committee, Moab City officials, as well as individuals, health care professionals and board members to coordinate the campus layout in terms of the other facilities being built by other entities. Upcoming events will be announced as soon as dates are set. The ground breaking is scheduled for late this fall. g fundraising opportunities are being coordinated based on type and On-goin- amounts gifted by David Drabner, development director and Joy Trotter, administrative assistant through Allen Memorial Hospital. The staff at Allen Memorial Hospital are taking on the administrator, Marla Shelby-Drabne- r in a fundraising challenge to Put Marla out on a limb with their contributions. For every employee that donates to the project in 2004 Marla will also donate a given amount of money. This could end up being a large contribution from Marla based on the statistics. The board members and the medical staff have also been challenged and are stepping up to the effort. The excitement and support of the hospital project is certainly gaining momentum as the community draws closer to the ground breaking this fall. UDOT to sponsor town meeting on Main Street improvement project The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will sponsor a town meeting open house to report progress on the Moab Main Street improvement project and answer any questions from business owners and the public on Thursday, May 6 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Center in Moab (450 E. 100 North). UDOT plans to rebuild Moab Main Street from Overlook Road at the south end, to the Maverick Store at the is pleased to introduce... a selection Artist's rendition of new Moab Regional Medical Center. and the successful Night of a Thousand Stars dinner donated last fall by Sorrel River Ranch the project is certainly supported by the community. The project will replace aging pavement with new, low maintenance pavement; improve the road grade to reduce vehicle scraping and aid drainage; provide a more appealing downtown atmosphere with a new roadway; and improve some curbs, gutters and sidewalk ramps as funding allows. Sidewalks will not be affected. At past meetings, local business owners have voiced strong opinions regarding the 2005 construction schedule and how it will affect local commerce. From those comments, design team members have developed a phased-con- struction schedule to reduce impacts to businesses as much as possible. The project team has also worked closely with city and county elected officials, their staffs, and community members to identify areas of concern and address them in the project plans. The project schedule and other details will be presented at the May 6 meeting and public feedback will be sought. Interested persons may stop by at any time between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. to view the displays, talk with the project team members and submit comments. Brief presentations on the project will be given at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Anyone not able to attend the May 6 meeting may view the material on the website at www.udot.utah.gov Moab or at moabmainstreet City Hall beginning May 7. Interested persons may also request a copy of presentation materials and submit comments to Myron W.
