The anticipation builds until Saturday morning finally arrives and off go about 7:45 with various friends joining me for the thrill of The Quest. There is a small rude cadre of folks who start way too early and cannot be shamed at arriving while the yard sale giver is still in her pajamas and making her first cup of coffee. Karma will one day deal with them. just love pulling up in my old Chevy station wagon big enough to haul almost any purchase, executing my good enough for yard sale parking job and dashing ahead of my slower old mother on The Quest! What am looking for you might ask? Well, nothing! And anything! have a mental list of the requests of friends who, unlike me, are not early risers. have craft projects with eccentric ingredient needs. have my own peculiar taste in yard art. don't NEED anything and am open to everything. once bought an authentic gourd penis protector no doubt made for some rather small indigenous tribe member in some exotic locale. have probably the largest collection of flamingo stuff in the state. cant resist old rhinestone costume jewelry, plants that need restorative care, things that glitter, and old vinyl records from the 60s and 70s that actually play on machine. Participants will have the chance to win three major prizes until a special drawing at the annual Make One, Take One event in December. Among them, artist Donna Jordan has donated a sandstone painting (pictured). Sponsors will have bingo again this year, played every half hour. Cost will be .25C per ticket or 44 tickets for $10.
