Its time to remark the Slickrock Bike Trail. The fourteen mile trail will require many hours of labor and the collaborative efforts of the Red Rock Four Wheelers, Grand County Search and Rescue, the i International Mountain Bike Association, the Moab Motor Sports Association, the BLM, a scout troop, and local bike patrol s I (L to R) Thomas Burr (Green River), Andrea Brand, Jay Haymond, (instructor), Jennifer Redding, Elaine Boyer, Murray Shoemaker, and Lucy Nelson. Every bit of information makes the picture more complete, Stanton stresses. The Oral History Program is designed to acquire transcripts for public record. But according to Stanton, the program also encourages families to get their history documented whether they put in on file or not. The opportunity is gone once grandparents, aunts and uncles, mothers and fathers pass on. Regret is a bitter pill to swallow when one has not taken time to at least get the highlights written down, says Stanton. And I speak from experience. Paint, buckets, and brushes will be provided by make them comfortable with what goes into history about themselves and their family, but we also appreciate a balance between hard times and good times. We have volunteers to do transcribing, as needed, so this is not a problem, says Stanton. She also pointed out that journals can be transcribed and, for public record, people may be selective as to which pages they provide for transcript.
