A group of friends from the College of Eastern Utah in Price spent part of their spring break helping renovate the Moab Arts and Recreation Center. The 18 students helped rip out old carpeting in the foyer and of working with the students, said David Olsen, Moab Community Development Coordinator, was their wonderful attitude. At the end of the day, they were the ones thanking us for the opportunity to help. Olsen also noted that the students volunteer efforts saved us about $1,000 in labor. Thanks to their preparation, Marty Avalos will be able to start sanding and refinishing the hard wood floor in the theater where the January 20th inaugural concert for the Arts and Recreation Center was held. Other building improvements are moving along rapidly. The plumbing has been fixed, the theater received a fresh coat of paint and A1 McLeod is working on electrical repairs.
