Show July 20, 2000 388th OG gets new commander Continued from Pune A Korean navies in the West Sea, North Korean submarines were captured, terrorist threats were made and, of course, there was Operation Rawhide. Through it all. Bill showed me he had what it takes to lead and lead with class, he said. To familiarize himself with the airmen in his command, Colonel Coutts spent several nights visiting the swing shift workers here during Operation Nighthawk. The operation is designed to help commanders understand the environment their airmen work in. The more you know and understand, the easier it is to relate and communicate with our airmen, he said. Colonel Coutts said it is important for him to main-ta.- n a good relationship with the airmen and lead by example. They expect me to be honest and fair with them, he said. Its important to live up to the standards that I expect of them. The colonel said he expects his warriors to know their jobs, be properly trained and have proper equipment to do the job. On that note. Colonel Coutts said it is his job to take care of the people and ensure they have everything they need to successfully complete the wings critical mission. My goal is to accomplish the mission in a smart manner rather than a wasteful one, said the colonel. We have a limited amount of resources and a very demanding environment. He said the key to achieving his goal and having a successful unit is to have supervisors who can communicate the wings vision to troops, set standards and enforce standards and motivate their people so the unit can accomplish the mission in the most effective ard safe manner. Colonel Coutts is married to the former Victoria Gonzalez from Miami, Fla. They have a son, David. 388th FW congratulates 139 new staffs Congratulations to the following 388th Fighter Wing senior airmen who were selected for staff sergeant.
