Show 10 Hitttoplt July 20, 2000 Human activities affect storm water runoff quality Gutter Talk is a monthly column intended to educate and inform base personnel and families regarding stormwater and the environment. Stormwater, as the name implies, is water collected horn rain and snow events. During and immediately following a rainstorm, stormwater will runoff the land. The stormwater runoff from Hill AFB is collected into storm drain systems and conveyed to e waterways. Stormwater runoff is part of a natural hydrologic process. However, human activities can greatly affect the quality and quantity of stormwater runoff. Consequently, off-bas- improperly managed stormwater runoff can be a significant source of water pol- lution, potentially creating many problems to the environment, to aquatic life, and to all who use the water. IDEA LI, I. In upcoming issues, Gutter Talk will discuss many of the specific issues surrounding stormwater at Hill AFB. Topics will include ways that stormwater can be polluted at Hill, the problems associated with these pollutants, and practices we all can incorporate to help keep our water clean. Questions regarding this article or other stormwater issues should be directed to Paul Eetts, Environmental Management Compliance, Ext. Manpower & Quality Divisioin The Innovative Development through Emdoyee Awareness IDEA Program continues to be a popular and valuable avenue for Hill AFB employees to gain recognition while improving their work processes. From Oct. 1, 1999 to June 30, 2000, we have received 697 ideas ofwhich 288 were approved. A total of $227, 515 was awarded to employees for tangible savings of $7,840,352 and intangible benefits to the Air Force. The IDEA Program can only accept an AFTO Form 22 after it has been through AFTO channels and has been approved. After an individual receives their approved AFTO Form 22 to receive credit through the IDEA Program they need to complete an AF Form 1000 and attach their approved AFTO Form 22 and mail to the IDEA Office, Lui jJJl OGDEN WEST VALLEY O 1 622-89- 1 2070 Harrison Blvd. Directorate 1596 North Hill Field 3460 S.
