Stationed together in Yongsan Army Installation, Korea, from July 1997 to July 1999, Cols. John Weida, 388th FW commander, and William Coutts, 388th OG commander, assisted in Operation Rawhide - the transporting of more than 1,000 head of cattle and Vehicles from South Korea through the Demilitarized Zone into North Korea. Now that sounds easy and almost comical, Colonel Weida said, but anything dealing with the North Koreans was not easy and was serious wbrk. Colonel Weida welcomed his companion from ters, United States Air Force. From July leadership positions Col. 1997 to July 1999, he was assigned to Headquarters, Combined Forces Commanded, United Nations Command, at Yongsan Army Installation, Korea. His duties included Chief of Air Forces Branch and he was a member of the Cri- John Weida 388th Fighter Wing Commander Korea to the 388th as the new OG commander in a change of command ceremony July 7. Lt. Col. James Brown replaced Lt. Col. Larry Thompson as the 4th FS commander. Colonel Thompson left the squadron to attend the Fellows program in Washington, D.C. Colonel Brown said he wants the airmen under his command to enjoy what they are doing. If we are not having fun, we need to do something about that, he said. Colonel Brown is a command pilot with more than 2,300 AT-38 and the flying hours in the The colonel has flown combat missions during Operations Provide Comfort, Deny Flight and Southern Watch.
