Show 8 July 6, 2000 Video, from page 1 trates in advance how the show will be broadcast so that the audience can see the planes as they fly by and the awesome destructive power they levy on their targets. This brings the viewer into the action; they get and feel the jolts, ripples to see the action close-uand shock waves, Broadhead said. While the audience witnesses a carefully timed and executed show, the inside of a production van turns into a hectic version of Wall Street. From start to finish, for over 30 minutes, cues are given in rapid-fir- e succession. The audio person must play the right music, sounds, or cue up the corO p rect microphone. Instant play back orders are n called out to the replay operator. One slip of the finger and a glaringly obvious error Jumbotron television goes out to the slow-motio- screen. For the production crew, split second timing is of the essence just as it is for the pilots making their target runs. If anything goes wrong, the show can be completely out of synch in the blink of an eye. Orchestrating this organized chaos is Rich Ambrose, chief of the media productions flight and show coordinator. He is constantly vigilant of the clock, pilot positions, the narrators place in the script, the situation in the broadcast van and the dynamic interactions of all these things. The team relies heavily on the maintenance crew to fix problems, ensuring equipment availability and reliability. Even with the harsh operating con- ditions, the maintenance crew keeps everything working. High winds and blistering heat mixed e with dust can spell disaster for the cameras, but the technical crew works tiretalcum-powder-fin- lessly keeping the camera operators in busi- ness. The camera crews bring the viewers right into the action with steady movements and long lenses. The 367th TRSS also has an aerial videographer who flies with the different aircraft to provide a birds eye view of the action, whether its a bomb release or the recovery of a downed aviator. Once the show is over and the crew returns to Hill AFB all the footage is reviewed and logged for use in a yearly Capstone production, a carefully produced version of the live show. We edit together the best footage from all four shows that year, Sorensen said. Our goal is to create a spectacular demonstration of our Air Forces capabilities and awesome firepower. d on VHS, The show is then and DVD formats to send to customers that are unable to attend the show live. The best way to experience this show is live, Ambrose said. The availability of these media formats, however, allows us to reach everyone and the men and women of the 367th TRSS Combat Camera Team make that possible. mass-produce- CD-RO- M Staff Sgt.
