Show sa we? 5 Syndrome children that created and organized the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation. She is happy to share her by Neal Scheel HHIAFB CFC coordinator story. If you haven't done so already, "Choose A Cause and Make a Difference" in this year's Combined Federal Campaign. Our annual drive ends Nov. 12, and as we enter the final week we are better than half way to our goal of $510,000. Many of the CFC agencies are local, so our own friends and neighbors benefit from our help. It's rewarding to realize that so many Hill Air Force Base employees - Collected as of Nov. 3 are willing to demonstrate "The Means for Building Dreams." The CFC is a once a year charitable fund raising program among federal employees which allows year round support to the agencies of their choice. All contributions are tax deductible, and contributions can be made through payroll deduction. I know sometimes we might think that we can't afford to give. But really, can we afford not to give? If things' are difficult for us, think what it must be like for someone who really needs help. And those situations can happen to any of us. When they do, it's reassuring to know a helping agency will be there to lend a hand when or our friends and families we truly need it. In addition, it's a way to make our communities even better places in which to live. Let me share two examples of how our contributions make a difference. ;' Vf. "How I wish you could see Jared now. He has not only touched our lives for the better, but he has touched the lives of so many people around him. Just to name a few, it supports us in wheelchair basketball, snow skiing and even scuba diving." His positive attitude shines around him wherever this active man goes. As he put it, "Can't is not a word in my vocabulary. The CFC has helped me and others realize that. Thanks for all your support!" Diane Cassity was one of two mothers with Down All-Americ- an r'"M s"v vr- - i : years. "One day Jared came into the house with a large pine cone and said, 'Lef s go roast it, like in that song, "Rnecones Roasting on an Open Fire."' I made the correction to chestnuts and we both laughed. He put his arms around me as he so often does and said, 'I sure love you, mom.' "Yes, I am bragging, but I hope you don't mind. When someone tosses you a major curve in your life and you end up with a home run, you just have to share the joy." Cassity says more than 200 families are being served by Utah Down Syndrome Foundation. The foundation donated many books and pamphlets to local libraries and parent groups of children with Downs. "We sincerely thank all those who have shown concern, love and support," she said. "How blessed we are to have these folks on our side. And Jared thanks you, 'from all my heart, bless you all!'" While the cause varies, it's your choosing to give generously that makes a profound difference. Dream !
