"He found out about the World Games two years ago and he's been working steadily ever since to compete for it. About anything he sets his mind to do, he does it." Kelley plans on continuing in the sport, competing in a number of local events in the near future. He will be competing at the end of the month in the Hess Fitness Center's Bench Press Challenge, an event where he competed favorably last year in a much higher weight class. "When they saw how much weight he was lifting, they started saying, 'Come on Little Bigman,'" said Sean's father, Terry Kelley, who works at the Contracting Directorate. "I knew he'd do well," Shendow said of his newly crowned world champion, "but you never know what the competition is going to be like coming from other countries, and having the whole world involved, so when he comes out on top of the whole world, that's particularly outstanding. It's really exciting having ' Sean finish that well." Kelley is no stranger to remarkable accomplishments, though a world championship is hard to top. He has served a service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints, and as a Boy Scout, Kelley earned an Eagle Scout award. ; E-- .Tiffr,A " fcw mv J trirn tn aim -- 6-- mm mm. s LTRAA3& 'UzjlJ '40 |
