Even before the "spring thaw the Travel Council was operating in full force to fulfill the hundreds of information requests they have been receiving each week. Phone inquiries in 1989 are at least three times as great as 1988 and mail requests have almost doubled. Nearly 1,000 requests have been processed since January, with March requests a already averaging 200-30- 0 week. In addition to the daily requests, the Travel Council, with the help of the Grand County Training Center, has also mailed over 13,000 brochures to individuals who have responded to the State of Utah's spring television promotion. "March and April arc our busiest times of the year for information requests," says Val Townsend, Visitor Services Coordinator, who is re sponsible for managing the mail and phone inquiries.
