Show The J . M. Sumsion was only Paving a 1.8 mile section of US north of Moab was the object of a bid opening March 7 by the Utah Department of Transportation. The section to be paved begins at North Moab and runs north to the Colorado River bridge. Only one bid was received on the project. J. M. Sumsion of Spanish Fork submitted a bid of $167,487. However, because that amount exceeded UDOTs official estimate of $129,728 by more than ten percent, officials must review the project to decide whether to accept the bid or readvertise the project. It involves placing a "leveling layer" of pavement over the existing highway surface to fill in ruts and low spots to make the highway surface more level. Because the pavement on this section of highway has considerable fabcracking, a ric will then be placed over the highway surface over which a h plant mix seal coat will be placed. The fabric membrane should help inhibit cracking through the new pavement layer. The seal coat is a thin layer of specialized pavement which seals the highway surface to inhibit air and moisture deterioration to extend the life of the road. If awarded, it is expected the work on this project will begin after April 15 and it will cause considerable traffic interference e on the highway. The contract stipulates work must be completed by June 20. Funding for the project comes from UDOTs maintenance budget. stress-absorbin- g one-inc- Low rates make State Farm homeowners insurance a good buy. Our service makes it even better. two-lan- Call me.
