Times-Independen- t, UTAH AIR CONSERVATION OF UTAH A number of matters were heard in Twelfth Circuit Court in Moab in the past week. Timothy J. Price appeared March 4 for arraignment on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor (DUI), possession of a controlled substance and speeding. He pled guilty to the first two charges and the speeding charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to pay combined fines and fees totaling $608, and in default of payment to serve 60 days in the county-jail- . The matter of continuance of trial date for Kim G. Merett on charges of depriving an owner of a vehicle, failure to respond to officers signal to stop, DUI, and driving while license suspended or revoked, the trial date will be reset on March 14. In State of Utah vs. Mike Russell, the defendant is charged with theftreceiving stolen property. The defendants attorney entered a plea of innocent on his behalf and trial was set for April 18. Donna Beard appeared on a charge of issuing a series of bad checks. Defendant pled guilty and was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county jail, with a stay of execution. Defendant was ordered to make restitution within 30 or commitment will be issued to serve the jail sentence. Kevin Don Carroll appeared on a charge of DUI and entered a plea of 30-d- ay 3. Defendant was further ordered to complete two days of community service work assignment. Kerry Ray Swink appeared on charges of driving while license is suspended or revoked and no registration. Arraignment was continued to March 12. He also appeared on further charges of driving while license suspended or revoked, DUI, open container of alcoholic beverage in vehicle, driving left of center, and speeding. This was a continued arraignment which was further continued to March 12. Collin D. McIntyre appeared for continued arraignment on ag- gravated CONSERVATION REGULATIONS CONCERNING RESIDENTIAL FIREP- LACES AND SOLID FUEL BURNERS (WOOD AND COAL STOVES) TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: The Utah Air Conservation Committee will conduct a series of public hearings for the purpose of receiving comment on a proposed revision of the Utah Air Co- nservation Regulations (UACR) pertaining to the control of emissions from wood and coal burning stoves (residential solid fuel burners) and fireplaces. The Committee specifically solicits public comments on the appropriateness of establishing the following proposed regulations: 1. A visible emission limitation of 40 percent opacity for emissions from residential fireplaces, fireplace inserts, and wood and coal burning stoves. The limitation would not apply during the initial start up period and during refueling. 2. A limitation of 1 pound per million BTU sulphur and assault. 4. Young appeared for sentencing on charges of two counts of theft, a Class A Misdemeanor, one count of theft, a Class B Misdemeanor, and three counts of burglary of a vehicle, a Class A Misdemeanor. He was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county jail, and placed on probation for one year. Defendant was required to serve 30 days in jail, and ordered to pay restitution of $200 plus fine of $500. If fine and restitution are paid within 30 days the jail sentence will be suspended and probation will be terminated. If not paid within 30 days defendant will be required to serve the jail sentence. In State vs. Jfemes Gentry an extradition review hearing was held March 7 on fugitive information. Defendant was ordered held in the county jail for 60 days and the court will review extradition in 30 days. Ralph Frank Canfield appeared March 10 on charges of DUI, speeding and open container of alcohol in vehicle. Defendant pled guilty to DUI and open container of alcohol, and the speeding charge was dismissed.
