Show The Mrs. Utah visited Moab fora busy schedule Krestine (Kris) Perkins, Mrs. Utah, arrived in Moab Friday, March 7th for a one day visit. Her agenda included an interview on KMOB and Channel 6, a presentation to the High School Home Economic Students, the Senior Citizens Luncheon, a visit with the Extended Care Patients at Allen Memorial Hospital, the Training Center, and the Sundwall Center. She talked with the various groups on her life and future goals. She also discussed her plans to promote Utah in her travels during her 1986 reign. 5 ASHTONS goal setting and building selfesteem. She loves life and welcomes challenges. Sharing these feelings with others gives her the energy to meet her challenges. The visit to the Extended Care Patients at Allen Memorial Hospital included the presentation of carnations to each resident and a tour of the facility escorted by Gloria Harris. The seniors were all extremely pleased and enjoyed their visit with Mrs. Utah. According the Mrs. Utah her time with clients at the Training Center and the Sundwall Center was very rewarding. Her stay also included meetings with Joe Kingsley, President of the Moab Chamber of Commerce and Bob Jones, Chairman of the Grand County Travel Council. Jones presented her with a complimentary trip through Desolation Canyon, feeling the more she know 8 about southeastern Utah, the better she can promote it in her travels. Sine she had never been to Moab before, she really enjoyed the area and was very pleased with the welcome and general attitude of the people. Mrs. Utah is anticipating her return to Moab to participate in run in the March 22 Half the Marathon event. At that time she will attend meetings with various religious organizations on Sunday, including a March 23 service with Mayor Tom Stocks. Any organiztion interested in meeting with Mrs. Utah on March 22 or 23 can contact Dina Darbonne at the Central Service Unit before or drop by the March 18 at Central Service office located at 150 East Center, Room 202. The new Mrs. Utah is an ambitious woman who literally generates enthusiasm. She resides in Heber City with her husband and six children and specializes in lecturing on diet, nutrition and exercise (she herself lost 46 pounds over a two year period). Kris is presently learning the art of modeling, acting, and commercial work and recently completed one commercial for the Salt Lake area which will appear in several major magazines. Magliocco AMERICAN LEGION The American Legion held their state final oritorial contest March 7, 1986, attending was Beulah Anderson District Commander of District 5. Runner-u- p with the District Meet was Tricia Johnston from Grand County High. The winner of the oritorial contest was Laurie Smith from Salt Lake City. She was picked from seven contestants.
