Speaking will be Jennifer Bentley and Tricia Johnston. The money received will be turned over to the Grand County Sheriff or possibly Four Corners Mental Health. The town could be eligable for P.O.A. MEETING Several items of business were discussed at the monthly meeting of the Castle Valley River Ranchos Property Owners Association held Wednesday, Jan. 8. George Ottinger reported very little activity in the treasury and said the current balance is $8,809. Dave Wagstaff and John Blake, chairmen of the Road' Committee checked the drainage situation on Castle Valley Drive and reported a plan to disperse the water away from the main road. Also in their plans is to haul approximately 400 tons of gravel mainly to Castle 1 federal revenue sharing funds if they will accept the fact that the town was incorporated before Oct. 1, 1985. In a letter to Rees they said the town wasnt eligable because of incorporation after Oct. 1. The funds for 1987 have been discontinued by the federal government. The town has set up a community meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the L.D.S. Church from 7 to 9 p.m. All residents in the valley are asked to attend to help the town council and the planning committee for direction in the planning process and the kind of ordinances and restrictions are needed. In other business, the council agreed to pursue in obtaining permits for gravel to be used on the Castle Valley roads by the POA. A resolution to establish meeting dates for council meetings for 1986 was tabled until the community meeting on Jan. 28. Several council members were concerned that the Monday night schedule interfers with family home evening among the LDS people. An ordinance about shooting firearms within the town limits was also tabled pending a county ordinance Valley Drive. They said that permits would have to be obtained for the two proposed gravel sites, one near Castleton, which is a county owned pit and a site cn state land, just west of Round Mountain. They proposed that the POA ask the town council to obtain the permits because of their status as a town. A $14,000 budget is proposed for work on the roads this year, which includes routine grading and maintenance, cut and fill operations needed to fulfill objective of drainage and hauling and placement of gravel. TOWN COUNCIL MEETING The Castle Valley Town Council met Monday, Jan. 13 at the fire station to conduct their monthly business. Mission call Miss Janice Johnson, daughter of L. Arden Johnson and Clara B. Johnson, will speak at a farewell sacrament service to be held on Jan. 19, 1986 at 9 a.m. in the Orem 24th Ward, 225 East 200 North. She has been called to the Washington D.C. Mission. Two open houses will be held in her honor on Jan. 19, at her home, 231 North 300 East, Orem, from 12 until 2 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. All friends and family are invited to attend. The Grand County Food Bank concluded its holiday food drive in December by distributing 25 food baskets to needy families during Christmas week. The distribution was preceeded by a food drive in the area schools, with each of the four schools participating. According to Pefe Duran, program chairman, the Food Bank was able to serve different families than those which had been helped one month previously at Thanksgiving. Chad E. Stephens pled guilty to two charges of failure to report an accident. Sentencing was set for Jan. 22. Kirk F. Helquist appeared for sentencing on a charge of possession of illegally taken protected wildlife. He was sentenced to pay a fine of $500, plus replacement cost of $500. His weapon was ordered seized and repurchase cost set at $250. In default of payment, was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county jail. Keith B. Redd and Kenneth Banks appeared on charges of possession of illegally taken protected wildlife. Class A misdemeanors. In Banks case the state amended the charge to a Class B misdemeanor and the defendant pled guilty. He was sentenced to pay a fine of $100 and in default to serve ten days in the county jail. In Redds case, trial was reset for February 4. A charge of assault, a Class B misdemeanor, against Calvin Koehler was dismissed on motion of the county attorney, as complainant does not desire to proceed. Alice Butterfield appeared on a charge of issuing a series of bad checks, a third degree felony. Defendant waived preliminary hearing, and was bound over to appear in District Court on Jan. 13. The case of State vs. John Voy Tucker on a charge of third degree felony burglary and Class B misdemeanor theft was placed on the Law and Arraignment calendar for Jan. 15.
