The grant is used by the recipient to enhance science and mathematics programs at their individual schools. A panel of scientists, mathematicians and educators selected the 1995 Presidential Awardees from a slate of teachers previously selected in each state. Since 1983, the White House has given Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching through the National Science Foundation in order to recogni.e teachers and encourage them to remain in the field. More than 1,800 teachers have now been acknowledged with this award. Those eligible for the Presidential Awards have spent at least five ye"ars teaching science or mathematics in a public or private school. Nominations can be made by anyone who is familiar with a teacher's work, dation recently announced winners of the 1995 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. Besides Walter, three other ; Utah teachers were honored. Winning Utah teachers include Susanne Michelle Evans of Eden; Cathy Ann Ewart Welch of Hooper; and Barry Lynne Bishop of Ferron. It allows you to understand the heart of a culture. I would have traveled to my aunts and uncles and had my Panamanian cousins visit me. HOME FURNISHINGS Fair awards students The Utah State Fair has announced the winners of its 1995 contest include: !essay contest.
