Show Friday, November Tabernacle concerts part of Choral Society's 25th year The Daily Herald UTAH COUNTY The Utah Valley Choral Society will open its silver anniversary season tonight and Saturday with a program featuring American folk songs, hymns and patriotic tunes. Under the direction of newly appointed director J. Arden Hopkin, head of vocal studies at BYU, the choir will perform in the Provo Tabernacle Friday and in the American Fork Tabernacle on Saturday. Although the Provo Tabernacle has been its home for the past quarter century, the Choral Society is also performing in American Fork as - v IF YOU GO v- What part of its outreach effort "to let others know that this choir is for them and for their Saturday. community, too," said Lora Thompson, UVCS production manager. "It's sort of our gift to their community." The program will include American hymns of praise, songs by Aaron Copland, pioneer folk tunes arranged by Rob Millet (who will also . direct this portion of the concert), traditional spirituals and patriotic songs, including arrangements of "His Truth is Marching On" and "America."
