Charles Barkley When Charles Barkley has to tell us he's not a role model our society is about to disintegrate. The problem isn't just Charles Barkley's fault. These days, it's just about impossible to find any famous person who is qualified to be a role model. Every week, there are new revelations describing the debauchery of previously esteemed politicians, athletes and movie stars. There's no one left to admire. Not even Charles Barkley. Last week, I finally ran across hero that doesn't have any skeletons in his closet: Winnie the Pooh, In his book, The Tao of Pooh, Benjamin Hoff discovers the wisdom of ancient Chinese philosophers in the cartoon bear. Not even Gandhi or Martin Luther King could meet the high standards of the Road Runner. The Coyote tries to poison him, crush him, stab him and electrocute him. Still, the Rojsd Runner accepts it ail with a smile and comes back for more. The only revenge he takes is sneaking up behind the Coyote and yelling. "Beep! Beep!" Surely he can be forgiven for that. Even Gandhi used to sometimes sneak up behind frazzled British soldiers and yell, "Beep! Beep!" FATHER KNOWS BEST MY PERSONAL hero is Wile E. Coyote. His courage is unequaled. Sure, there are men like Casey Martin, Jim AblHitt and Franklin Roosevelt that overcame tremendous hardships and obstacles in pursuit of a goal, but no person comes even close to exhibiting the sheer determination and persistence of the Coyote. Casey Martin became the first pro golfer to use a cart on the PGA tour because of a disability; but what if he had to play on roller skates with a strapped to his back? Bri Only the Coyote has shown that brand of courage.
