Show o r c Friday, December 3, 1993 The Daily Herald Provo Library sets evening of Christmas tales for children sets 19th annual BYU Adventssingen Sunday at Provo Tabernacle - The Department of Germanic and Slavic Lanat guages Brigham Young University will sponsor the 19th annual Adventssingen, an evening of Christmas music and readings in German, on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the Provo Taber- nacle (100 South University Ave.). The program is free and open to the public. Very traditional in its format, the program will consist of a reading from the Gospel of Luke about the birth of Christ and a number of German folk and Christmas songs, some of which will be accompanied by unique sounds of Austrian and German folk instruments. ever-popul- PROVO The children's department of the Provo City Library will present an evening of Christmas tales some new stories and some familiar favorites. The free performance will begin Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the library multipurpose room. The library is located at 425 E. "We thought it would be nice to give students of German-speakin- g descent and those studying the language a chance to experience another aspect of German culture," she said. Soprano Karen Assay has been a resident of Pleasant Grove for 10 years and during that time has sung in several area choruses. She last sang the soprano solos in the "Messiah" while she was in high school. and 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Volunteers will be required to work two shifts a week. As a professional accountant, she served for nine years as American Treasurer for the International Federation of University Women in which capacity she has traveled worldwide. Alto Canah Tedjamulia has resided in Orem for 13 years and has participated in many amateur performances, both in the, community e mothand at church. As a er, she still finds time to express her love of music. This will be her first performance as an alto soloist in the "Messiah." Tenor Timothy Ritchie is a the member of that rare breed lyric tenor. Timothy has had many full-tim- opportunities to perform. While attending Ricks College and BYU, he has held the tenor lead in six separate operas. He has also held the position of resident tenor with Opera West Productions. Trumpeter Randy Lish played with the Pleasant Grove orchestra since 1987. This is his first season as principle trumpet. He performed as a featured artist in the trumpet trio, "Bugler's Holiday" with the Pleasant Grove Pops Orchestra two years ago. By profession, Randy is a practicing attorney. Conductor Susan R.
