Shay, a junior, joined the team this year looking for a fresh start. "I wanted to find a place where I could meet my goals," Shay said. "I looked through schools and BYU was the first one I visited. It was enough for me to decide right then. It's a great place to train. There's a lot of cool guys on the team and I think we're going to be good this year." Baylor's Nichole Jones won the women's 5K race, while Angela Wagner of BYU was the top local runner. Wagner, herself, has come a long way to get to Provo, transferring from Pretoria University in South Africa. After meeting women's coach Patrick Shane at a junior national meet in Beijing, Wagner took a round-triflight from her native country for a recruiting trip to learn more about the program. "It was worth it," said Wag- and Travis Fuller. Timpview and Orem went 2 in the team boy's standings.
