Utah (APi -The Canadian oil and gas firm Husky Oil Ltd., has announced it will sell Utah and Wyoming refineries and other property operated by a subsidiary to Flying J Inc., of Brigham City. The transaction is to close by July 31, according to a news release. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, although W.R. Miller, vice president in charge of financial affairs for Husky, termed it a "relatively small transaction for us," RMT operates one refinery in North Salt Lake, another in Cheyenne, Wyo.; affiliated crude and finished product pipelines; a network of truckslops and a Husky-brandealer and jobber network in more than 600 locations in the West. Husky Oil, listed on the American Stock Exchange, had gross revenues of about $1.5 billion for its fiscal year ending Jan. 31, 1985. "Well over a year ago, we sold all of our U.S. oil and gas production to Marathon Oil," and elected to sell Husky's U.S. refining and distribution network as well, Miller said. "The agreement with Flying J is the culmination of our efforts" to divest ourselves of our U.S. properties and concentrate on our Canadian operations," he said. The company reported earnings of $1,395,000, or 58 cents per share, on sales of $83,857,000 for the six months ended April 30. compared with earnings of $2,360,000, or 96 cents per share, on sales of in the prior year. Bayly management reported that excellent acceptance of its spring lines provided positive results for the second quarter. Those results t were partically by inventory write-down- s in the retail division, although Aspen Leaf stores continued to show improved sales. Management noted that plants are currently operating at full capacity, but that forward order activity is weak as retailers continue to be extremely cautious with re real estate.
