MAY 25 "Of Time and The Future" was theme of the Bingham Hijrh School commencement exercises held May 23 in the School auditorium for 190 graduating seniors who made a striking picture in their blue and white caps and gowns. Four stu-dent speakers Bonnie Jo Camp-bell, Dennis Despain, Sally Cillam and Billie Jean Champlin carried out the commencement theme in their talks. Mahonri A. Wixom, 78, of West tordan passed away May 1 8 at his of a heart ailment. Kenneth Lee Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald G. Tay-lor, West Jordan, was accidently strangled to death Wednesday after noon at 5 p.m. when he became tangled in heavy twine while play-ing at the rear of his home. Bingham City Council announc-ed appointment of Mrs. Edith N. Scussel as Bingham city treasurer to succeed her husband the late Joseph P. Scussel who died May 8 after a lingering illness. MAY 18 Ground breaking ceremony was held Monday afternoon for the new West Jordan post otfice at the new location 1800 West 7800 South. Mrs. Vera Harman Lloyd, 64, of West Jordan passed away Wednes-day morning in a Salt Lake hos-pital of natural causes. Promotional exercises were held at West Jordan Jr. High School for 240 ninth grade students May 22. "Footprints On the Sands of Time" was the program theme. Winners of the annual Poppy Poster Contest sponsored at West Jordan Jr. High School by Amer-ican Legion host 119 Auxiliary were announced as follows: RoLana IMMACULATE CONCEPTION '' ALTAR SOCIETY XMAS PARTY It was beginning to look more like Christmas last Tuesday even-ing, Deo. 1 8 when members of the Immaculate Conception Altar So-ciety held their annual Christmas dinner party in the church hall. The table was beautifully set with the ' vuleride theme. Centerpiece was the Madonna with an arrange-ment of holly, poinsettias and green candles. The clever favors were wine glasses filled with Christmas candy and tied with green and red bows. Prior to the dinner Father John J. Sullivan, pastor, was pre-sented a monetary gift from the altar society by Mrs. William Ab-let- t, president. The newly appointed Old Folks Committee for West Jordan Third Ward got together and made up a basket of food and took it around to the old folks of Third Ward two days before Christmas. There are 29 old folks in West Jordan Third Ward. The Old Folks Committee are Mr. and Mrs. James Steadman, Mr. and Mrs. Friedman Pierson and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Richardson. Relatives visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orvil H. Dimond Wednesday afternoon were their family, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dimond of Magna, Mr. and Mrs.-R- . Z. Earl Kelly and family were Mrs. Kelly's sister and hus-band, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond S. Chadwick and children, Raymond and Shelley, of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. James A. Kelly, parents, of Mr. Kelly, from American Fork. Claudia Kelly returned to Ogden with the Chadwicks for a few days visit. Wednesday evening the male chorus of the Bingham High School acapella choir were taken out to dinner by Wendell Checketts, their music director, and enjoyed roller skating at the S and M rink. Later balance of the evening was spent in trying out and working up some quartets among the boys. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hettrick Sr. and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vranes were dinner guests Wed-nesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Badovinatz and family. - ." The family of Mrs. P. T. Bate-ma- n held their annual Christmas party at the home of Mr., and Mrs. Mark L. Money and family in Hol-lada- y on Christmas night. A de-lightful program including Santa Claus with gifts for all was enjoy-ed. 53 were present to enjoy the evening. West Jordan Third Ward, held Christmas programs both in the Sunday School in the morning and at the evening service last Sunday. At the Sunday School program the pageant "The Shepherd Who Would Not Co" was presented along with other numbers. It included singing by the Sunday School teachers and tableaus under direction of Mrs. Royal Spratling. Linda Wixom and Merrilee Wells wore readers. The evening service included "The Story of Christmas" given by H. W. Jor-gense- n and songs by the men's chorus, choir, a ladies double trio and the Singing Mothers.
