They were sponsored by the West Jordan American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Helen Quinn McMurray, 49 of Salt Lake City passed away April 27 in a Salt Lake hospital of natural na-tural causes. F. O. (Ollie) Bemis, 63, died of a coronary occlusion in a Walla Walla, Wash., hospital April 28. Dance classes at Bingham High School presented their annual dance concert the evening of May 7. The program included 23 numbers. Richard Higham was elected president of the West Jordan Lions Club for the coming year, succeeding succeed-ing Ray Copeland. Miss Julia Menna of Bingham Canyon and Julian Garmendia of Kearns were married April 30 in Immaculate Conception Church at Copperton. Crestwood Villa was setting on April 25 for the wedding and reception re-ception of Miss Kathleen Barker of Murray and Richard E. Zdunich of Midvale. MAY 11 Joseph P. Scussell, 56, longtime Bingham Canyon resident and well known Bingham civic and business leader, passed away at his home in Bingham on May 8 after a long illness. (Dot) Mitchell, 63, died of a heart ailment on April 15 at his home in Los Altos, Calif. Funeral services were held Tuesday Tues-day afternoon for Mrs. Mike Var-dakis, Var-dakis, 71, of Salt Lake City, former form-er resident of Bingham Canyon for many years, who passed away of natural causes. Dean D. Kerr, acting superintendent superin-tendent of Kennecott's Bingham Canyon mine, will study industrial management next academic year under a Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship. The grants are for a full year of study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Cambridge, Mass. Bingham Chapter of the Future Farmers of America held its annual honor banquet on April 18. Lynn Margetts, 17, West Jordan Jor-dan took two first prizes as he bested the rest of the field in the beef and sheep divisions; Belva Whitbeck, 16, Bermion, won the dairy division prize; Boyd Nielson, 1 5, Taylorsville took first for hogs, and Sandra Eggleston, 14, Sandy was first in the horse division. Gary Starr, 16, East Mill Creek won the tractor driving contest and Terry Park, 14, from Murray won the livestock judging trophy. Four student stu-dent speakers Bonnie Jo Campbell, Camp-bell, Dennis Despain, Sally Cillam and Billie Jean Champlin carried out the commencement theme in their talks. Mahonri A. Wixom, 78, of West tordan passed away May 1 8 at his ome of a heart ailment. Kenneth Lee Taylor, 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald G. Taylor, Tay-lor, West Jordan, was accidently strangled to death Wednesday after noon at 5 p.m. when he became tangled in heavy twine while playing play-ing at the rear of his home.
