May 21, 1984 THE HERALD, Provo, Utah, Secrets Writer Starts Next Project Williams to Sing With Boston Pops Talented singer Andy Williams is the guest of John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra Monchanday at 7 p.m. on KBYU-Tnel 11. Andy Williams began singing with his three brothers and parents in the church choir of his hometown, Wall Lake, Iowa. His family was the entire choir. When they moved to Des Moines, The William t Brothers began to achieve wide popularity singing on radio station W HO. After other successful radio engagements in Cincinnati and Chicago, the br jth-er- s moved to Los Angeles, where they continued to work in local radio until they joined forces in 1946 with comedienne Kay Thompson. The act made its nightclub debut at the El Rancho Hotel in Las Vegas one year -N EA ) HOLLYWOOD Mostly, actors are hired to do a job of acting. But there are some who are involved in productions from their inception. Leonora Thuna, who wrote and Family Secrets, a recent NBC movie starring Stefanie Powers, Maureen Stapleton and Melissa Gilbert, is working on her next project. It is the story of cosmetic queen, Helena Rubinstein, taken from the book by Patrick O Higgins, her right hand man for many years. Thuna says that she would love to get Barbra Streisand to play Helena Rubinstein, and team her with a handsome actor playing the O'Higgins role. later. For six years they toured the United States and Europe When The Williams Brotters disbanded in 1953, Andy decided k to continue on his own. A two-wee- engagement on Steve Allen's Tonight Show stretched into nearly three years, and Wil- liams began recording a string of hit singles and albums. After appearances on TV variety programs, and two network summer series, The Andy Williams Show made its debut in September of 1962, winning an Emmy Award during its first season as the best musical-variet- y series. Williams is the holder of 17 gold albums and five Grammy nominations.
