This is the third year of Sage Riders racers. "Actually what started it all was a boy who raced without insurance who got injured by so we put on a Lark, Utah benefit race for him three years ago," Mrs. Gerber said. The Gerbers have been involved in motorcycle racing for 19 years racing, sponsoring, and helping produce races, besides running a motorcycle racing shop in Lehi. The Sage Riders put on three types of races each year: the moto-cros- s, y a desert race and a track race. The desert race took place in April by cross-countr- Jericho. "Desert racing is like a cross- country event about 80 to 100 miles. Moto-crois really an endurance race on a shorter course," Mrs. Gerber said. "You have to be in good shape." The experts on their bigger bikes raced 12 laps for about 20 minutes. Participation in the race required sign-u- p and certification as a member of the state-wid- e motorcycle racing organization SRA, which in an annual January banquet awards highest scorers from all races in the state. "We had a lot of people who think it was a really great event this year," Mrs. Gerber said. She said the Widowmaker races that occurred concurrently Sunday in Salt Lake County diminished participation in the Lehi races, but Saturday's turnout was healthy. ss 114; Handling parts goes with the rest of the mud.
