"We exist for you" is the message Art Front Community Space wants to convey to local artists. Art Front is a new art gallery run by four former BYU students. The gallery, at 541 S. 100 West, will have its grand ' opening from 9 p.m. today. The aim of the gallery is to bring artists together, give them a place to show Raquel Smith, Art Front Community Space their work and to show the community the talent here. "Our primary focus is to expose local talent to educate and connect people together. We each have a different perspective on life, and when we make artwork we make our belief system 7-- evident to others. Art has the power to build bridges. Art is a weapon against provinciality and prejudice," said Jen Harmon, a recent BYU graduate with a master's in sculpture. The Lehi City Arts Council will be using it as part of its Sunday Concerts in the Park series. There will be a ribbon cutting during the first concert June 3. Mayor Ken Greenwood, the City Council and the Arts Council will be participating. "This is a tremendous tool for the arts council," Reggie Walker, Lehi Arts Council advertiser, said. Councilman Robert Fox was instrumental in getting the stage purchased for the city for $80,000. The stage is a box trailer that opens up with lighting and two side stairway entries. It will also contain additional risers for a large staging area if needed. "It's just easy to pull to a location and set up," Walker said. "We never had anything like this stage before.
