I Schulz to be honored at American Fork Post Office By DEBRA JANDREAU The Daily Herald AMERICAN FORK Fans of Snoopy and Charlie Brown, the Great Pumpkin and Lucy and Linus will soon get a chance to honor the author of the famous comic strip. The American Fork Post Office will hold a tribute to Charles Schulz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip, on Saturday, from 10 a.m.- - 2 D.m. Schulz designed, wrote and drew every panel of every "Peanuts" strip that appeared in daily and Sunday newspapers around the world for nearly 50 years. Schulz's daughter, Amy Johnson, accompanied by her husband and their nine children, will join in tribute to her father.' Mike Maxfield, customer relations coordinator for the United States Postal Service in Salt Lake, said the event is only being planned for the American Fork Post Office. "Amy Johnson lives in American Fork and I think this is a way to honor Schulz and her," Maxfield said. In aa special ceremony, a framed enlargement of the recently released Snoopy postage stamp will be unveiled and presented to Johnson by American Fork Postmaster Rick Brandon. The Snoopy Stamp was unofficially unveiled May 17. Maxfield said that Missionary Discount! z 25 since the release of the stamp, post offices have been overwhelmed. "We have received tremendous response to the new stamp" Maxfield said. "Supplies of the stamp are currently out and the Salt Lake office is onbackorder."
