" the theme of Ice "It's Capades' new extravaganza, is a large display of beautiful girls, debonaire boys, illusions, mystery and sleight of hand. It opens at the Salt Palace on Tuesday, April 19th through Saturday, April 23rd for seven performances. One of the most magical moments in the show will be the professional debut of Olympic and World Champion Dorothy Hamill, who captured an Olympic Gold Medal and the hearts of the world in Innsbruck, Austria in February of 1976. tne musical production "Magic-Time,- " that opens the show is a top - hat - and tails magic act on ice. Now you see him, now you don't. Poof! It's Mr. Magic Man, David Sadleir. He pulls rabbits out of hats, and scoops birds out of thin air. In "Grand Illusions," he promises to baffle with his magical spiking machine and amazing Chinese ghost trick. For the young at heart, "Scooby Doo and the Gang from Magicland" take to their home in the land of make - believe. You'll meet Scooby Doo. Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Fred Flintstone and many more cartoon favorites. What's more, the acrobatic - skating Fentons will wow everyone with their unique contortions and balancing tricks. Then swashbuckling Richard Ewell, Sarah Kawahara as his lady fair, and David Sadleir as Calypso Joe spin a tale of pirates and stolen treasure in "Island Magic." There's a winter wonderland of beautiful ballerinas in "Chopin Fantasy," with prima ballerina Melissa Militano and the adagio team of Mark and Alison ria - "' "... THE CASTLE, located at 1300 E. Center St., Provo, will again be the setting for Castle theater productions. summer Productions' jj Plans are underway for Moliere's "The Imaginary Invalid," "Butterflies are Free," and "Guys and Dolls." xCastle' Plans Three Shows Castle Productions is already busy planning its summer season. Once again the theater will be located as the "Castle", the unique outdoor amphitheatre, located behind the Utan State Hospital at 1300 E. Center Street in Provo. Last year Castle Productions presented Utah Valley audiences with three productions of live "Prisoner of Second Avenue," "The theatre Importance of Being Earnest," and "Godspell." Their 1977 summer season will use equally noteworthy productions with "Imaginary Invalid," "Butterflies are Free," and "Guys and Dolls," slated for performance. In July Lynn Frost will direct Molier's famous and hilarious comedy "The Imaginary Invalid." Mr. Frost had directed numerous plays in the valley. His recent directing credits include "Barefoot in the Park," and last year's production of "Godspell." His acting credits are even more extensive with his most recent effort being the part of Elwood P. Dowd in Brigham Young University's production of "Harvey." "Butterflies are Free" will be presneted in August under the direction of Rick Van Noy. Rick was seen on stage in two shows at the Castle last summer and his directing credits include "The Apple Tree" and "Pinocchio. He too is a veteran of the BYU stage and was also seen in the popular production of g "Harvey." "Butterflies are Free" is an play about a blind boy on his way to independence and manhood. It is a highly moving and humorous play. The final production of the season scheduled for ear!y September is "Guys and Dolls." An upbeat version of this popular musical will be directed by Jayne Luke. This year Miss Luke is coming to us as a guest director from "Walk Ons Inc." where many d on Broadway in a revised revival. The Castle is once again being improved upon by the State of Utah. Last year there were extensive improvements made, including a new stage. This year, restrooms should be available on the grounds of the outdoor amphitheatre. On cool summer evenings, especially towards the end of the season, warm clothing is advisable. Also this year, transportation will be available for those who find it difficult to make the short walk up the hill from the parking lot. The Board of Governors for Castle Productions is comprised of Ron Richardson, Charles Lynn Frost, Rick Van Noy and Jim Gadd. They are working this year to make this season of summer theatre bigger and better than ever. In a flag - waving salute to North America, Melissa Militano and Johnny Johns lead the Corps de Ballet in "Hi Neighbors!" The grand finale, "It's Today," is designed to be a lavish spectacular in the tradition of the Ziegfeld Follies. For comedy, there's Freddie Trenkler and the crazy antics of Johnny LaBrecque and Bob Mac. performing a tribute to a great composer. Ice Capades pulls surprises galore from its magic trunk in "Tricks and Trunks," with David Sadleir as a ragtime cowboy, Sarah Kawahara as a marionette - come to - life, and Richard Ewell as a way down - South jazz man. "Anyone wishing to apply should send a resume to me at Box 622, Coeur d' Alene, Ida., 83814 immediately so that by return mail I can schedule an audition," Moe said. "There are positions open in every area of production," Moe said, "including singers, dancers, actors, musicians and technicians." "Our 1977 season tentatively will include 'South Pacific,' 'Applause,' 'Li'l Abner,' and 'Where's Charley,' " the general manager said.
