Mr. McGregor added he has sent letters to various cities and governmental agencies throughout Utah, Wasatch and Summit Counties, informing them of the opportunity to obtain funds for special labor projects. Provided under Title VI of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act, the funds may be used by units of government, schools and colleges, organizations, public and private institutions, and agencies. The act specifies that the projects must provide a public or community service through defined tasks of less than one-yeduration. In judging the projects for which applications are received, priority will be given to projects which have the greatest impact for community betterment, which can demonstrate support from other sources, and which will provide training to employees, Mr. McGregor reported. He indicated that the funding will be used primarily for long-terunemployed. There must be assurance that the expenditures will not involve political or sectarian activities, duplicate existing services, or substitute federal funds for other funds. A conference for sponsors will be held by MAG on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Provo City Commission chambers, at which applications and more information will be available. Mr. McGregor stated that the MAG Manpower Planning Council will review all applications and will make recommendations to the MAG Executive Council, which consists of elected officials who will make the final decisions. e Priority will be given to family members who have been receiving unemployment compensation for 15 weeks, or to older workers and women, he said.
