In 1995, its first hit single landed within the top 10 on the Billboard . country music chart. In 1999, the band's song "Amazed" reached No. 1 on both the Billboard country Hot 100 charts. ; Millions of records sold, more hit songs and even some international success all followed and today the band continues to tour and release new albums. This is just a tiny glimpse into the life and career of country band Lonestar. "When I was a kid it wasn't a matter of whether I was going to play drums or not, but rather it was what band it would be for," said Lonestar drummer Keech Rainwater, ."Whenever I would see a drum set my eyes would just light up, and I knew that's what I wanted to do. ... 1 would watch Phil Collins and the Eagles play on stage on TV, and I would just think it would be cool to be at that level." Lonestar will make a stop on its current tour to play a show under the stars at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre on Friday at 8 p.m. When the group formed, band members never dreamed of having No. 1 songs and being so widely known. "For me, it's far exceeded any expectations," Rainwater said. "When you form a band and get going there is a certain amount of expectation, maybe get on the radio and do a couple of videos. "A lot of bands do a couple of songs and then you never see them anymore. My expectations were that we'd be lucky to get a few songs out there and then see what hap pened." In early 2007, the band experienced a small obstacle when lead singer Richie McDonald left to pursue his own musical endeavors.
