DETROIT (UPI) -- The 25 members of the University of Detroit basketball team, including the 16 varsity players, were under indefinite suspension today after demanding the ouster of coach Jim Harding. The suspeitsions Thursday climaxed a week-lon- g boycott of practice sessions by the Titans. At a news conference the players charged Harding with "physical abuse of the ballplayers" and "insulting language." "We feel that coach Harding is incompatible to us as a coach and therefore, we seek a replacement as the only soluin tion this matter," a statement from the players read. The university's Athletic Board of Control met for more than two hours Thursday night and said it "unanimously supports coach Harding" and wants to "get the team back." Hardir.g, in refuting the charges leveled by the players, called them a "pack of liars" and suspended the 16. "They want a solution?" he said. "Well, they won't have a solution. I'm sorry, but their basketball careers are over. I'm going to be coach here for the next three years whether they like it or not." DETROIT (UPI) --Light heavyweight champion Bob Foster flew from Tampa, Fla., to Detroit to set up his training camp for his Nov. 18 fight with Joe Frazier and the heavyweight champ won two rounds in the process. Foster predicted in Florida that he'd take the current king of boxing within five rounds, but when he got to Detroit Friday it went up to seven. Frazier had said when he arrived to open his camp earlier this week that Foster "had a tremendous left hook." He talked sparingly of his opponent, but praised him when he did. "Frazier is the kind of guy who keeps coming with a plodding style, so I'll box him and when the time comes, take him out with either a left or right," Foster said.
