Symptoms in children may be a wadding gait, tendency to fall down or having difficulty climbing stairs. In adults the symptom may be as slight a thing as inability to whistle, or drink through a straw. Muscular dystrophy is not contagious, but it seems to be transmitted through the genes in a family. However, the disease has one the highest spontaneous mutation rates known in human genetics, and therefore a large proportion of its victims are stricken without previous family history. This disease is an ailment of the muscles alone and does not affect the nerves as most other paralytic diseases are. S TO BE AN INFLAT PROVO |
