I once made the statement that I never wanted to get married again but now I've changed my mind. I would like to marry Harold. Since I made that stupid remark the subject of marriage has never come up again, but Harold would like to settle down and have a family. I honestly believe he is hinting at marriage. Do you suppose I've ruined my chances with him? How can I bring up the subject again without being pushy? I think he wants to marry me but doesn't know how to approach me after the broad statement I made. WORRIED WIDOW DEAR WORRIED: If he wants to marry you, he'll to asking you eventually in spite of what you said. When a man really wants a women, he doesn't let a "broad statement" stop him for long. I don't like to put a damper on your enthusiasm but don't be You are older than Harold and possibly his hints about settling down are a DEAR MRS. MAYFIELD: I want to buy a new car but I'm having a heck of a time convincing my wife and ny parents that I should. I'm 19, married and have a baby. I know car payments would be a drag but this old car that they say I should "fix up for the time being" is in bad shape. It would cost $400 to get it in good running order. They all agree it's a lot of money but they say if I had a new car I'd just go out and race the guts out of it at 75 to 80 miles an hour. Could I have your opinion on this? C.R.L. DEAR C.R.L.: Your people know you much better than I do so I suggest you listen to them. If they say you'll drive it hard, they probably have good reason for their thinking. Knowing how most boys your age like to drive, I wouldn't be surprised if the "bad shape" your car is in is due to racing "the guts" out of it. M.M. j!
