The victory enabled Coach Jim Spencer's charges to complete their league season with an 0 record and gain a berth in the state Class AA tourney. For Coach Jack Hill's Vikings it was their seventh loss in eight region games. Pleasant Grove remained in the game against Provo High, until midway through the second period, as the Bulldogs started the tilt with their two top stars-St- ew Morrill and Craig Drury sitting on the bench. Drury suffered a broken wrist in Provo's second league game of the season against Payson 83-5- one-sid- Lanky Sid Hansen hit four field goals and Paul Gark and Boyd Nelson one each for the Forkers 6; Craig Geslison hitting the hoop with regularity. Scott Hinton, Kim Cooper, Terry Kirkham helped to keep the score down somewhat with thpir !hnntini. Top Don Shooter Hansen was the top shooter for tht Dons as he tanked eight field goals and six foul pitches for 22 points. He was trailed by teammates Boyd Nelson with 16 and Paul Gark with 14 points. Hinton with 15 points, Kirkham with 14 and Dave Lind with 12 helped to keep the Pioneers in the ball game. It was an interesting and well played game for three quarters in spite of the score. Spanish Fork finished the Region Four season in fourth place in the standings and will play Carbon at 8:15 p.m. Monday night at BYU in the first round of the Region Four playoffs. Although Morrill didn't enter the game until late in first quarter and was taken out of the clash with 1:55 to play in the third quarter and also noticeably favored his injured ankle, he still managed to lead his team in scoring with 15 points, scored on six field goals and three free throws. Paul Sowards and John Bale had 10 points each and were the only other Bulldog players to score in double figures, as Coach Spencer went to his bench as soon as Provo started to build up a sizeable lead. Top Viking Scorers Randy Robinson of the Vikings tied Morrill for scoring honors as he pumped in three field goals and nine free throws for 15 points. Two other Pleasant Grove players scored in double figures. They were Jerry Harper with 11 points and John Beck with 12. Harper and Robinson kept Pleasant Grove in the game in the first quarter. Harper's two free throws tied the game at 6 with 3:58 to play in the first quarter and his two charity tosses deadlocked the count again at 0 with 1:57 to play in the session.
