The department provides certain resources to the post and offers young persons interested in law enforcement the opportunity to receive training and exposure to law enforcement activity. Post 2247 is made up of young men j f --nl receive addtitional training as required for special assignments. They will be trained in the use of the police radio, crime scene and vehicle search procedures, accident investigations and major incident assistance. They will also be trained by records personnel and department detectives and be involved in support services such as public relations safety programs. Community services like traffic and crowd control at parades, celebrations and emergency situations will also be performed. Prior to being allowed to ride with officers, Explorers will receive either a academy or a orientation class until such time as they can attend the academy.
