FOR SAUL l1QTiI A CRATS WILL HAVE CITY TICKET IN FIELD Tha Democratic city committee held a meeting last night, in which it was to hold the Democratic prfrr.aries Monday, October 12th, the precinct con Iventlons on irsday, October 15th, and "the city conventtlon the following day. October 16th The city committee came to 'the to put a city ticket in the field. The matter ef appointment of delegates was settled on the basis of the vote cast for J. C. Leary for Mayor in 1901. On this basis, 494 delegates will be named. The chairman. M. E. Mulvey, and the senetary, D. F. Collett, were authorized to issue a call for primaries, precinct conventions and city convention.- Unless the Grand theater has an engagement booked for October 16th, The city convention will be held in that building. The committee meeting was held at 8 o'clock last night, and was called to order by U. F. Collett, the secretary. M. F. Mulv-?was chosen chairman, and Ir. Collett was asked to succeed himself as secretary. Those answering. roll- - . tall were: John Halverson and John Montgomery, Jr., First precinct: Benjamin D. Luce, L. C. Johnson and A. J. Stare, Semmi' precinct:' Eli' A: Falland and J. H. llaslam, Third precinct: M. E. Mulvey, Fifth precinct. C, P. Overfield was elected a substitute for A. E. Jarman from the Fifth, D. O. Wiley for Joseph Bull, Jr., from the Third, and Judge Morris Sommer for H, J. Dininhy from the Fourth. All the substitute members were present. The chairman appointed the following committee on arrangements for primaries, and the precinct and city con ventions: J. II. Halverson, Bpnjamin D. Luce and Albert J. Seare. BASEBALL SEASON The text of the call issued last night is as follows: "By authority of the Democratic city committee of Salt Lake City, Utah, a call is hereby issued for a city Democratic convention to be held at the Grand theater in Salt Lake City on Friday, the 16th day of October, 1903. at 10:30 o'clock a. m., for the purpose of aiominating candidates for the following city offices: Mayor, Recorder, Treasurer, Auditor, Attorney, and also to elect A,city committee to consist of three numbers from each municipal ward, and to transact such other business as may pro perl y come before the convention. And also a call is hereby made for municipal ward conventions to be held in the respective municipal wards at such places as may hereafter be designated on Thursday, October 15, 1903, at 8 o'clock p. m." Apportionment of Delegates. The appointment of the delegates among the various election districts of the city, made on the basis of one for every fourteen vots or major portion thereof, cast for J. C. Leary for Mayor at the municipal election in 1901, is as follows : First Precinct District No. 1, eleven; 2.
