JONES Herald Women's Editor F there's a recipe for instant chi.os in the business world, it probably reads: "Every secretary quits and goes home." There isn't an executive alive who doesn't know the importance of having a dependable, expert, mature, valuable secretary on the job. In recognition of these office necessities, National Secretaries Week will be observed for the 17th year on April with spcial events planned by the Utah Valley Chapter, Executives' Secretaries, Inc., and the Timp Valley Chapter of the National Secretaries Association. A'L elegant spring fashion show and- - dinner, "Newest Springtime Attire" is planned on April 24 in the main ballroom of the Wilkinson Center by the NSA chapter. Spectacular spring fashions will be n shown with hair stylings and exciting new shoe styles. Renae Swenson is general chairman of Secretaries Week and working with her as of the fashion show are Elaine Farley and Joyce Anderson with all members working on various committees. All secretaries, and other professional women, are invited to attend. Reservations may be made with Mrs. Merlyn J. Swenson at Orem, or other officers of the Timp Valley Chapter. The chapter also held its annual Honor Night recently when 12 outstanding secretarial students from each of Utah County's high schools, the Brigham Young University and Utah Technical College were awarded Certificates of Achievement. Timp Valley Chapter will also be host this year to the. Division Meeting in May with representatives from eight chapters of National Secretaries in Utah and Idaho with approximately 220 members attending. Erla Knudsen is chairman for this meeting and the local chapter's Boss of the Year, fi. A. Huish, will be jjuest speaker. CHRiSTENSEN, BYU, is invited to speak at professor of communications research at the annual Seminar for Secretaries by Mrs. Joyce Thomas, Seminar chairman, and Mrs. Phyllis Christensen, president of the Utah Valley Chapter, Executives' Secretaries, which sponsors the event on April 20 to which all interested women are invited.
